Welcome to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office crime reporting system. This service is provided so that you can submit
a crime report for specific types of incidents at your convenience without visiting the Sheriff’s Office. Every report
will be reviewed by Sheriff’s Office personnel and you will be contacted if additional information is needed. Please call
(530) 265-1471 if you have questions or would like to talk to a deputy.

Criteria for using this system:
• If you have an emergency, call 911.
• The incident must have occurred in unincorporated parts of Nevada County.
• If the incident occurred within the city limits of Grass Valley, Nevada City, or Truckee, please contact the police department for that city.
• For any traffic related incidents occurring within the unincorporated areas of the County, please contact the California Highway Patrol (916)-861-1300.
• If you believe you know the name of the suspect do not use this system. Call the Sheriff’s Office at (530) 265-1471.

If you submit a report that does not meet these criteria it will be rejected.
Upon completion of this process:
• You will see the words “Your report has been submitted”, showing that your report is complete
• Your report will be assigned a tracking number
• You will be able to print a copy of the report to keep for your records
• Within a few days you will be notified that your report has either been accepted or rejected
• You may be contacted by the Sheriff’s Office for more information

Custody Order Custody Visitation Order Violation. Willful disobedience of custody terms outlined in a court order. Failing to meet at predetermined public area to exchange custody of child(ren) or consistently arriving late at predetermined exchange location.
Harassing Phone Call Unwanted phone calls of an annoying, harassing or threatening nature. Immediate hang-ups, obscene language, etc. with no known suspects.
Lost Property When property is missing or lost. Property that is missing, leaving items in restaurant, or missing from home.
Suspicious Activity An event or activity out of the ordinary that appears our of the ordinary and may lead to a crime. This activity has already occurred and is no longer in progress. Examples may be finding a broken house key in your front door, receiving strange phone calls, receiving strange letters, etc…
Theft Your property is taken without your permission. Property known to be stolen and missing may be reported. Lost property is not a theft.
Vandalism The act of changing, modifying or defacing public or private property. Graffiti, knocking over mail box, throwing rock through windows, etc.
Vehicle Burglary Property is stolen from a motor vehicle. Stolen equipment or belongings from a vehicle.
Type Custody Order
